Kelsey Grammer will return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday.

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube page started a live video announcing the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. So far, at the time of this article’s publication, the cast announced in the video includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Grammer, Lewis Pullman, and Danny Ramirez.

Dr. Grammer was Grammer's first role. In 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, Hank McCoy played Beast, and in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past, he made an uncredited cameo. His character then reappeared during the mid-credit scene of 2023’s The Marvels, with that being Beast’s official introduction to the MCU.

What does Kelsey Grammer’s MCU return mean for Avengers: Doomsday?

It’s unclear how big of a role that Grammer will have in Avengers: Doomsday. Because Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris, awoke in a parallel universe and was greeted by Beast in the middle of The Marvels' credits, his inclusion does suggest that he may also be a member of the Doomsday cast. Grammer’s casting also begs the question of how large of a role the X-Men will have in Doomsday, as both of the forthcoming Avengers movies are expected to formally kick off new mutant-focused stories for the MCU. Whether or not any other former X-Men actors will show up in Doomsday and Secret Wars remains to be seen.

Avengers: Doomsday is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers. Marvel Studios intends to release that film on May 1, 2026, in theaters nationwide. The release date for Avengers: Secret Wars, which is also being directed by the Russo, is May 7, 2027. Spider-Man 4 with Tom Holland will be released in-between those two movies on July 31, 2026.
